So here is what I am working on for Christmas. We decided not to get the girls alot this year. So, I have been looking for a nightstand that would work to make them a little kitchen. Again, I was patient and kept looking and when I was in D.I. last week found a cute little pink and purple stove. Supposedly there was a fridge with it but somebody snagged that up fast. My idea for it is to put a back splash on it a side sink and cutting table attached and it is missing some doors so I want to put on one door and paint it to look like the front of a stove and then put a curtain on the bottom. Huh, breath. I don't have a picture of it because it is tucked in a corner of my garage with all thier presents in it and a blanket covering it. I will post pictures as soon as it is done. For now here is what inspired me. Also, I did have to get them a few more things but am all done and everything came from The Family Dollar. I love that place and all thier $5 toys. Gotta love cheap.

Okay so I am new to the whole Pinterest and have already spent way too much time on there. Although I am glad to say that I have taken some ideas from there and actually made some. I made the girls these cute ruffle cardigans made from old shirts and am now making them sweater dresses from some of my old sweaters. I also made one for myself out of an old man size sweater and since I really don't sew, I just wing it. I thought I did a pritty good job altering the sleeves and neck. The picture makes it look like a burgandy with white but it is really a burgandy with a headther grey ruffle like the striped one. I only have the cardigans made so far. What do you think?

This is the wall before and after the mantle. I wish I had pictures of the shelf that was covering the window when we first moved in and when I had this bright idea to paint it blue. BTW, there is a window behind the big piece of plywood that looks into the garage. It is totally ugly and very drafty so our solution was to cover it with the plywood. Cheap and not too bad looking, right?

Speaking of cheap, I was called and asked to do a class on how to decorate on a dime. I am so flattered and so scared. I don't talk in big groups, I might pee my pants.

Christmas

Christmas is here, FaLaLaLa. I couldn't wait too long after Thanksgiving to put up our tree and decor. In fact I made the paper garlands and had them up before Thanksgiving. This year our tree is a little more mature. Last year it was super bright and kidish as well as our front porch if any one saw it and can remember. It was a pain making sure those big ornaments didn't blow down and break. This year much more simple. I was looking for old skis at D.I. but didn't want to pay $10 on them so I decided to be patient and within 3 days found some in Ksl's free ads from a lady down the street. I also really wanted a faux fireplace mantel like the one from VintageRevivals so this is what I came up with. First I found some cabinets at this cabinet place by my house and they wanted $10 a cabinet door, not to mention that they all had something wrong with them. So, I started calling places. I called all the other cabinet makers in Brigham and found one that was just so happening to take down some old cabinets from a house in Ogden that weekend. They were already white and really old. I told him I would take them. Best part.....Free. All I had to do was glaze them and put them together with L brackets. Not hard at all. I got it all put together and it looked a little sad on top. So I got on Ksl and found a guy getting rid of old barn wood in Ogden off the Free ads. I went and picked that up and the guy was so nice he and his dad even cut it for me and took the nails out of each piece. The wood was from an old horse coral and had been chewed on by the horses. I'm sure they thought I was crazy after I told them what I was going to do with it. Anyways, it was just what the mantle needed. A little color and highth. As for the frames, windows etc. I already had most of that. I made new stockings this year out of burlap that I found a bag full at D.I. for $3 and in the end I think everything cost me $11.50 even though it was all spent throughout a long period of time. I am really happy with it and now love spending most of my time in this room. First thing I do in the morning is come in here and hop on-line or read a book.

My cute little Zoe turned 4 November 23rd. She right now is into My Little Pony so we got a cake with them on it. I normally make the cake but because we didn't really have a party I decided to get her a cake that actually was fun and looked yummy. She was just telling me today that next year she is going to turn 5 and then she is going to go to school and Ava is going to go to school and dad is going to go to work and I am going to stay home. Then I thought to myself I should get a job while they are in school (which by the way sad to tell her, she isn't going to school until she is closer to 6) then I looked down and remembered that I am pregnant and will have another one to take care of during the day. Duh!!!!

Halloween

Halloween was fun this year. Ava is in school and got to dress up and go through the parade. She had a pritty awesome costume too. Last year Ava was a cute witch and Zoe was her little black cat. This year we reused Ava's witch costume but painted Zoe's face green and then she was the BAD witch and Ava was Glenda the GOOD witch. Making Ava's costume was fun. The crown was a huge hit. Literally, I think I got wacked in the face way too many times to count and as you can see Zoe really got into character this year.

As for my costume I was quit impressed with myself because I made my own stencil and painted my shirt. Everyone was asking where I bought it. Might I add, the pictures this year are so much clearer. It helps to have a better phone, thanks to the hubby.

I feel like I am totally giving up on this blog thing. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it. Most of the time I want to just be making something instead of putting it on here. Sorry, it's probably because I am not the best on the computer or putting interesting stuff on here. However, my husband told me the other day that our house is starting to look cluttery so I guess I need to stop making stuff......like that will ever happen.

I am about 7 months pregnant though so it limits me in some things that I would like to get done.....like putting up our christmas lights. HINT, HINT to the hubby if you ever read this.

I'll start with whats been going on starting with a few months back.

Since we already have two girls we were kinda wanting a boy this time around and wanted to find out what we were having in a fun way that involved the girls too. So, we went to our appointment and instead of them telling us what it was they gave us a cake with the inside the color pink for girl or blue for boy. NO, my doctor doesn't do this for everyone just his favorite....ME. Just kidding, my awesome sister made them and took them to the doctors office. Did I mention that she lives in Vernal, luckily she had some of her own appointments down in Layton that day. Anyways, we took the cake home and stopped at Jared's work where we waited and waited and waited until we couldn't wait anymore and his boss finally let him leave early so we could go cut into this cake. Guess what color it was??? Pink

We all let out a little sigh and then were excited. Well maybe not all of us. Ava cried, Zoe jumped up and down and mom and dad just gave each other a look like okay, we can handle 3 girls. Deep down we all thought it would be a boy but figure we will have to just get a boy dog. Lol Looking on the bright side we already have all girl stuff and we don't have to worry about getting peed on...so I hear.

Okay, so I just got back from this decorating class and loved it. I met some really nice ladies and got some time to have adult conversation while my Ava was in kindergarten and they had child care for my Zoe. It was so refreshing and nice to hear other ideas. I had to sign up for their other classes.

I told them my blog address so now I am feeling guilty because I haven't been on here for forever. So, I thought I'd do a tribute to my little owl collection. I LOVE owls. My nephews call me the crazy owl lady and always are looking around for new ones. Atleast every room has one or two or three or.....you get the point.

My cookie jar which really is an ice bucket, I got at a yard sale in Ogden in the ghetto from this cute older gentleman for $5. Since then I have had offers for it up to $300 from when I was doing Farmers Market on 25th. I also went back to that man's house when he was having another yard sale a year later and told him about it and he wanted me to give it back to him. All I could do was akwardly laugh. LOL

The girls room is just a wall decal and the very last picture is of the mobile part to a baby swing I just got for our new little one on the way. Which we find out today what we are having, yay. Fingers crossed. Anyways, I'm sure there will be more owls and if there are any that can top my cookie jar I will have to post. Enjoy for now I guess.

The wall......

IT'S FINALLY DONE. This dang wall has taken awhile to get all the way done. It's been painted and all done except the molding. Of course that part I needed a little help with, hence why it took so long.

So, this wall has looked many different ways so far. From tan with a big shelf to blue with a piece of natural plywood to blue wall with white wood (my brother in law couldn't stand it natural so when we went out of town for a few days he painted it white, thinking it would inspire us to paint something on it). Then to the whole wall being white and then THE STENCIL, dum, dum, dum. I made this stencil (let's just face it, because I'm cheap or poor from buying crap at the D.I., either one) it took a long time but was well worth it. I made an executive decision however to just do half the wall so then it needed molding.

I know that is a big piece of wood, but here's why. When we moved in there was a big set of shelves that were covering that wall to hide a window that looks into the garage. When we took it down we figured that out so we decided it would be cheaper and funner to have a big mural on the wall to hide the window. I got a big sheet of plywood, screwed it on the wall, painted it the same tan that is on the other walls to tie it all in and it kinda gave it some warmth. Then faux glazed it by putting glaze on and rubbing it in with a rag. I got some branches that are kind of a mustard yellow color from my favorite wreath place (Lyle Dabbs)and just nailed and stapled them on to the wall.

The molding is what I've been waiting for before I could post the finished product. Greatly to my surprise (and a hint to the brother in law, if he needed something to do. Wink, wink) This is what I came home from St. George to. The girls and I were so excited. My Ava was jumping up and down and said she wanted to give Dave a big hug and kiss because it was so beautiful. You can't really tell from the picture but he planted flowers and ground cover all in the two front mounds and infront of the porch and even bought hanging baskets with very cute flowers in them. He is quite the handing man. Speaking of.......... here's a picture of our garden as well. I can't wait until everything starts growing. Dave also planted this for us.

For those of you that read this and don't already know, Dave (my brother in law) is renting the upstairs of this house to us and he lives in the downstairs. It's really kind of nice that he's here with Jared being out of town and all. Although I do get a lot of flack from my family saying that it's like we are reverse polygamists. Very funny, not. It's okay though, Dave likes yard work and Jared not so much. So, it all works itself out, right?

Paint Job

My response....I would love to paint other peoples houses inside and out, stencils or solids etc. you get the idea. So.....your response to that is? In other words does anybody want to hire me? Backsplash

So, this backsplash is like about 6 weeks old. I was doing about a thousand things a few weeks ago and this was one of them. My kitchen and bathroom are covered with beadboard from floor to a little over my head and who ever put it up didn't do the best on it. Sooo, I covered the parts above my counter. First I lightly stained it to make it look antique but it more looked dirty so then I painted it with a high gloss white to be able to wipe off anything that splashes on it and ended up liking that so that's what it is now. Love it?

The Big 7

Mexicano

This is our new addition to the family. Name: Mexicano. We as in I looked everywhere for a cheap but awesome piece of furniture for under our t.v. and fit good in the awkward space. I didn't find it for cheap but I found one and begged for mercy to get it. The hubs and I had our eyes on this beauty about 6 months ago in a consignment shop called Tookiloo on Washington across from the Junction. I slowly waited for them to come down on the price. It went from $600 to $250. When I went in to tell them I was finally serious and wanted it, it was $388. I told them my budget was $200, so they took it down to $250 and then it was all mine after that, Mu ah ha ha. I know expensive right, but we love it and hopefully it will look good anywhere we live.

The other little stereo cabinet is what I had posted previously but I thought I'd post better pictures just because the other ones don't give it justice. On the sides there are picture frames with old news paper in them for character.

This stereo cabinet was pritty hanous with orange stinky fabric on the sides and on the front. The front I just painted over it after I realized I couldn't take it off. I took off the sides fine but then had two big holes, so I just covered them up with the frames and there ya have it.

New Wall

Ha, just teazing. It is almost done all I have left is the new molding. Can't wait, huh? Well, as soon as I get a stink'n compressor I will have it done and post the pictures. Hint, hint to anyone who or knows anyone who has a compressor for the nail gun.
On a side note: if anyone has anything they want me to paint or antique or anything. Call me Erin the freak who is out of things to do. hehe. No really I need something else to keep me sane while chill'n with my kiddos. My house is all done. I guess I can buy things fix them up and sell them. Hmmm....... to be continued.

Antique Me

Oh my goodness, I am so tired. I have been painting ALL FA-REAKING day. Ugh. It's still not done too. I guess what do you expect when you stop every few minutes to help kids, cut someones hair, eat, talk, blah, blah, blah. Anyways, I told my friend I would post these pictures tonight so here they are. The picture of the cabinet doesn't give it justice, it has really cute detail to it. Maybe one day I will learn how to take pictures, dang it.

I bought this stereo at D.I. (where else, duh) and these frames at yard sales years back for a dollar each. The books and vase do da, are also from D.I. All I did was paint and antiqued with my Ralph Lauren Faux glaze which I got for FREE (that's right). Home Depot doesn't sell Ralph Lauren anymore but lucky for me they had a can that they used for their painting classes. Since it had been used (maybe once) they gave it to me. Ya, this would be where my friends/family would be embarrassed because I asked them how much I could pay to buy this can of glaze and they told me I could have it for free. So I took it with no hesitation. Although I did have to listen to this lady about how if I wanted to learn more about painting I could come to her house and get some of her books, she even wanted to give me her phone number. I think she had the hots for me (who could blame her though, right?) Right?

Any who, I think this whole project cost me $30. In my opinion it was all worth it. Oh ya, I painted the little round mirror with chalk board paint and then drew on it with chalk to make the details stand out. Clever huh? So there you have it, I am out. Word to your motha.

Insane in the Membrane

Holy!!!! Capital INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE. I think I've gone crazy. If you know me you know that I am not such a patient person. For instance, I really want to do a "seizure wall" like on Vintage Revivals blog but because I am so impatient and cheap I made my own stencil (shipping would take too long and it's $40) so this is my stencil that pritty much does one decal at a time. Did I mention that it has to somewhat dry before doing the next one. Ya, which again because I am so impatient I just did three, one right after the other. Scary but because I am also OCD I was very careful and it turned out fine. Just a word to the wise though, stencils are not perfect (especially homemade ones, hehe). They look good from far but far from good. I think I am going to like it alot though. The more I look at it the more me likey which I've been looking at it alot since I am waiting for it to dry. Pray I stay somewhat patient and finish it. Considering it's 9 p.m. and I'm only this far.

P.S. I almost forgot, instead of $40 plus shipping it cost me $1.25 exactly. I got a plastic folder (.97+ tax), printed the stencil off of cutting edge stencils website and then took that copy to the copy shop and they blew it up for me (.25). I then cut it out and made it into a stencil and voala. I know, your jealous right? Well don't be, it's a giant headache and taking way, way, way, way, way too long.

Just another window

I know, I know. ANOTHER window. Well, get over it. I now have 5 up in my house (besides all the old ones that are actual real windows on this little house). This is my newest. This baby only had one window pane in it on the bottom so I painted it with chalkboard paint that I already had. The middle has sheet metal in it which I got from Home Depot for $5 and the top I went to Staples and special ordered my logo which they put on foam board for $4, window frame was a dollar from a yard sale. Total:$10, I love it, don't you?

If you can notice all I did to the window was clean it. I know alot of people repaint and then antique them but I love when you can see all the wear and tear and where hinges were. I made that mistake with my first one which is hanging in my girls room, one day it will be replaced and one day I will post all my windows.

P.S. I have 3 more. what to do, what to do? Any cute, creative ideas?

P.S.S. I know my shelves look dark, they are much better in person and if it weren't dark outside I would open my blinds to brighten it up, but I'm impatient and want to post this tonight. Don't judge me for my impatience.

Can I just say I have a love/hate relationship with paint. Love it because you can always change it if you get tired of it. Hate it because I do it so much. hehe Hence why the house is dark blue now instead of green. Also, I begged Jared to agree to a blue wall in our house and we finally did it and I hate it. Hopefully changing it next week. Just got to order the stencil, I am going to do a "Seizer Wall" like off of Vintage Revival. And this is what I mean when I say the hubby has to put up with alot when it comes to me. Good thing he loves me, I hope.

Finished pillows

So, I hated these pillows ever since they started falling apart. I had two brown and two blue and two green, the brown kept getting snagged and then finally got a hole so I made these and yes the letters are hand painted without a stencil. I know I am the shiz, you can say it. I know.

There is only one white pillow because I haven't finished the other one yet. Working on it tonight. I sortof have this thing called OCD and maybe a little ADD because I feel like I have to get my house how I want it all done at once. My poor hubby has alot he has to deal with when it comes to me. If you know us, you probably feel bad for him too. (hehe ) Anyways, heres what I used and heres what I made. Total cost was - $7. The fabric was $6 and orange paint .97 the pillows I already had and the how too was from vintage revivals.

Ya, that's right I made a stink'n pillow cover. Check it out, this girl has got sewing skills.

Okay, so I am totally a copy cat and copied Mandi's pillow cover off of her blog vintage revivals (mandi is totally one of my best friends. Not, I wish though). I would love to go thrift store shopping with her and pick her brain for cute ideas to do to my house). Her blog is full of great ideas and step by step ways to do them. Basically it's just awesome and I love it.

Anywho, back to my blog. The hubby started his seasonal job back up this week so I have tons of things to do and fix up. Tonight I am sewing and putting some finishing touches on some mirrors I got at D.I. which I will probably post tomorrow and it comes with a great story, embarrassing but funny.

P.s. The pillow is not quit finished yet. Going to stencil "C" on it. I will post when done.

New Jewelry

I get lots of compliments on it and offers to buy it but since it was one of my grannies I haven't wanted to sell it. So, if you were one that wanted it now you can buy one like it. Yay. Okay, I am so Peeved with a capital P. I just got done 2 days ago making this acid wash mirror (my first mind you) and the wind last night blew it off my porch breaking the mirror and frame. Grrr......... I mean really? Why?

On the bright side I did go to D.I. yesterday and bought a ton of junk. All amounting to $44 and I mean I got a ton including 2 big peices of furniture and a polite lecture from the hubby when I got home, hehe. I might have to start parking outside or have a garage sale next weekend.

Okay so I got this lovely window frame last week along with 4 others off the side of the road for a dollar each in North Ogden. Ya I know, sweet deal huh?They were sitting along the road with no one outside so I had to knock on their door to see how much they wanted for them. The guy wanted me to make an offer. So, a dollar a peice they were. That's right one dollar each. So, yesterday I went to good ol' Wally World and found this super cute fabric(which is more burnt orange then a red like the picture) for $4 dollars a yard and stapled it on to the back of my awesome window. I can't decide though if I want to put a calender decal on the front or just leave it as is. Maybe write cute nothings on it with a magic eraser marker? Who knows.

This is just one of the cute things I did yesterday. Can't wait to post the cupboard that I got from the same place. Posting soon, eeek.

My latest find at the D.I.

Okay so I found this down in the Centerville D.I. and let me tell you it was a beast getting into my little subaru along with my two little girls. When I walked into D.I. looking for a chair this little beauty caught all my attention. It has two cigarette burns and a few spots that are worn with love, who could pass it up though. The best part about it is that it reclines. When the employee was getting ready to take it to the back for pickup I asked him if I could test this bad boy out. He said, "what do you mean?" So, I sat in it and pushed back and it popped up. He was so envious, told me he was planning on buying it if it didn't sell by the end of the day. Too bad sucka, hehe. Needless to say everyone was eyeing it after that. All I could think was, ya it's mine. But wait, the best, best part is the price. Are you all dying to know? It was......$30. Yes, that's right I asked for the manager and talked it down a little. It was worth the $35 but why not ask right? I'm sure I embarrassed my hubby but a girls got to ask. Just like the time I went to Wally World and asked if they could lower the price on some hannah montana headbands because one of them had a chip in the paint on the plastic. They lowered it from $5 to $1. Really guys it doesn't hurt to ask, totally embarrassed my friend though. Hehe.

So, for some reason my blog wouldn't let me type or change any info and it took forever to put where bloom products were. I finally just deleted that section and now it looks alot better. If you can remember you had to scroll way down to read about me, well that is no longer. Finally.
Just to let everyone know Bloom will be going under a whole facelift. I want to redo the logo and everything, same cute headbands and accessories though.
Bloom is now in The Queen Bee a new fun decor, treats, toys, collectables etc. next to Great Harvest on 25th and at this cute unique clothing store called Ume on 25th. I love Ume and the owner Kristen is super sweet, she has such a great style and the clothes that she picks for her store are so cute and unique. There is alittle bit of everything there and styles for everyone. Go in to all locations and check them out and buy a headband for goodness sakes, I'm sure it won't be the last.

I am so so sorry ladies. Things have been a little crazy. The last five weeks of Farmers Market I wasn't there. We moved, (YAY) and it was a ton of work getting everything painted and cleaned in our cute little old home but well worth it. We love it. I am now located in Brigham City, however if you are looking to find Bloom products closer to the Ogden area you can find some in Vintage Cupcake Company. It is a super cute and fun cupcake boutique. The cupcakes are fun, creative, cute and super super yummy. If you haven't checked it out yet, please do.
On another note, I know I am really bad at updating this blog. I can't seem to keep headbands long enough to post them so bare with me please. I will try to post some especially ones like the feather headbands that can be duplicated. Also,I have had many people asking me to make some with their own jewelry, which I love to do because it makes them so much more personal of a gift to give to loved ones in your family.
